Privacy Policy
Effective October 5, 2026. Cuffed is operated from California. For privacy questions and requests, email [email protected].
Information we collect
We receive the username, display name, password, optional birthdate, and anniversary date you enter. We store your room and partner connection, game answers and progress, check-ins, plans, memories, pet details, preferences, and photos you upload. If you turn on device alerts, we also store your browser's push subscription and recent notification history. Your browser sends technical data such as your IP address and device information when it connects. We use a player cookie and, if you sign in, a session cookie to keep your room and account working. Your browser may store your chosen visual theme locally.
How we use it
We use this information to run Cuffed, link couples, remember shared content, show dates and reminders, keep accounts signed in, protect the service, respond to requests, and troubleshoot problems. If you opt into device alerts, we send encrypted notification messages through your browser or device push provider. Alerts contain only a short update, not your private answers. You can turn them off in Account or in your device settings. A birthdate entered in Cuffed is self-reported and is not independent identity verification. We record the date and version of your adult-content agreement if you enter adult games. We count how often features and games are used, as daily totals that are not linked to you.
Beta waitlist and feedback
If you join the beta waitlist, we store your first name, the email address or phone number you give, and your partner's name and note if you add them, only so the operator can contact you personally about an invite; Cuffed does not send automated emails or texts. We record which invite link was used to make an account. If you send feedback, we store your message, its type, whether we may contact you (and any contact you add), the page you were on, the app version, your browser and screen size, whether Cuffed was opened from your home screen, and your username if you are signed in, so we can fix problems and improve Cuffed. To limit abuse, we keep a one-way hash of your IP address with a count of recent requests. We delete waitlist and feedback information on request through the contact above.
Who can see it
Your linked partner can see shared room content, plans, memories, couple photos, and the birthday information shown in your shared profile. Some games hold individual answers until both partners finish. A person with an invite link may be able to join an unfilled room, so share links carefully. Anyone with access to your device or signed-in account may see your content. The operator can access stored data to maintain the service and respond to safety or privacy requests.
Puzzle photos
When you start a Puzzle Together or After Dark Puzzle, your phone shrinks the photo and removes its location and camera details before uploading it. The photo is stored on Cuffed's own server only for your couple and is shown only to the two of you in that puzzle; there is no public link to it. It is deleted when either of you deletes the puzzle, 7 days after you finish it (After Dark photos 15 minutes after you finish, unless you both choose to keep them for 7 days), or after 30 days without play. The photo is overwritten before it is removed, puzzles are left out of our backups, and puzzle photos are never shared with third parties or sent to AI services.
Service providers and third parties
The site runs on a privately operated server and uses Cloudflare to connect visitors to it. Pages also load a font from Google Fonts, which may receive technical request data such as your IP address. We may disclose information when legally required or to protect users and the service. We do not currently run targeted advertising or sell personal information. External sites linked from Cuffed have their own practices.
Photo stories
If you post a story in Currently thinking, we store the photo, its optional caption, the status you chose to attach, when it was posted, and whether your partner has seen or reacted to it. Before upload, your browser shrinks and re-encodes the photo, which removes location and camera details. Stories are stored only in Cuffed's own database on its private server. Only you and your linked partner can see them, through your signed-in accounts; there is no public link. A story and its photo are permanently deleted from the live app 24 hours after posting, or right away when you delete it; the photo is overwritten before it is removed, and stories are left out of our backups. Story photos and captions are never sent to third parties, AI services, analytics, or advertising, and device alerts say only that a story was posted.
Storage and retention
Account and couple content remains until you remove it or request deletion, subject to shared-content and legal needs. The server makes backups; recent automatic backups are generally kept in a rolling set of 14, while older manual copies may remain until reviewed and removed. Server logs are generally kept for 14 days. Deleting a photo from the live app may not immediately erase backup copies or copies already saved by another person.
Your choices and requests
You can edit your name, birthdate, anniversary, password, plans, and photos in Cuffed. To request access, correction, or deletion of other data, or to report a privacy or intimate-image concern, email [email protected]. We may ask you to verify control of the account before acting. If you are locked out, the operator can give you a temporary password after confirming it is you; this signs your account out on every device, and your previous password is never visible to anyone. Shared couple material may require us to consider your partner’s rights; we will explain what we can remove. You can clear local theme storage and cookies in your browser, although doing so may sign you out or disconnect an unsaved room.
Children and adult content
Cuffed is not intended for children under 13. Adult games require a signed-in account, a self-reported birthdate showing age 18 or older, and an explicit 18+ agreement. This is self-attestation, not independent age or identity verification. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, contact us so we can review and remove it.
Tracking signals and policy changes
We do not currently respond differently to browser Do Not Track signals. We do not knowingly allow third parties to track your activity across unrelated sites through Cuffed for advertising. We may update this policy as the service changes; the effective date above will change when we do. Material changes will be posted here before they take effect.
